Recommended Hardware Configuration
Cost effective hardware configuration to run any exocad product
- CPU: Intel i5 - 10400 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600
Note:The CPU must be Intel or AMD with x64 architecture, other architectures (e.g., ARM, RISC) and x64 emulations (e.g., Qualcomm Snapdragon, Apple M series) are not supported.
- RAM: 16GB
- Graphics: Nvidia RTX2060 or AMD Radeon RX 5600XT
- Minimum screen resolution: 1080p (1920x1080), if a DPI setting of 100% is used. If you use a higher DPI setting, a higher resolution is required!
Full workstation example configuration for using any exocad product simultaneously
- CPU: Intel Core-i9 14900k / AMD Ryzen 9 9950X
Note:The CPU must be Intel or AMD with x64 architecture, other architectures (e.g., ARM, RISC) and x64 emulations (e.g., Qualcomm Snapdragon, Apple M series) are not supported.
- RAM: 32GB DDR5 non ECC
- Graphics: Nvidia RTX 4080 (16GB GDDR6) or RTX 5070 / AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT or 7900XT (20 GB GDDR6)
- Screen resolution: WQHD (2560x1440), recommended: UHD (3840x2160)
Minimum Requirements to run any exocad product
- CPU: Quad-Core and 2.8 Ghz
Note:The CPU must be Intel or AMD with x64 architecture, other architectures (e.g., ARM, RISC) and x64 emulations (e.g., Qualcomm Snapdragon, Apple M series) are not supported.
- RAM: 8GB
- Graphics: 4GB graphics memory is required. A minimum CUDA level of 3.0 or OpenCL 1.2 is also required. (see list of CUDA levels of different graphics cards).
- Older or entry-level Nvidia and AMD chips might not work well or will result in poor performance.
- Intel integrated graphics chips are not supported for PartialCAD.
- Minimum screen resolution: 1080p (1920x1080), if a DPI setting of 100% is used. If you use a higher DPI setting, a higher resolution is required!
Software Requirements
Operating system requirements to run any exocad product
- Windows 11 (24H2 + 25H2)
- Windows 10 (22H2) is only supported if the system is under the Microsoft Extended Security Updates (ESU) program for Windows 10 or a similar program that still provides regular CyberSecurity updates.
Please note that all Home and Pro editions of Windows 10 are no longer supported by Microsoft. For this reason, upgrading to Windows 11 is strongly recommended.

Peripherals/Human Interface devices (HID)
- Standard computer keyboard required
- Standard computer mouse required
- Multitouch screen optional/supported
- 3D mouse (3D connexion) optional/supported. Please see here for supported 3D mice: https://3dconnexion.com/spacemouse/. Please be advised that any special LED/display-powered 3D mouse macros/buttons are not supported.

- A free USB slot is required to connect the USB license copy protection dongle (HID device).
- Internet connection is mandatory.
exocad and Mac
The exocad software is developed only for Windows-based systems, all virtual machine environments including Parallels are not supported.
If you want to use a Mac, you must install Windows via Bootcamp, which requires an Intel Mac. If so, you must take care of this yourself and our support does not cover it.
Note: Apple Silicon (M.x chip) Macs don't support Windows via Bootcamp.
Please make sure that you have the minimum hardware configuration requirements to run the software according to the information available on this page.
Further support for updates of Mac etc. we cannot support it either.

Q&A
Can I run exocad on a Mac? Does it work with Parallels/VMs, or do I need Boot Camp/Windows?
exocad is Windows‑only and virtual machines (including Parallels) are not supported. On Intel‑based Macs, you can install Windows via Boot Camp to run exocad. Apple Silicon (M‑series) Macs do not support Boot Camp. Please take a look at the full explanation here.
What graphics card should I use for exocad (NVIDIA vs AMD), and how much VRAM do I need?
Use a dedicated NVIDIA or AMD Radeon GPU. Minimum:4 GB VRAM.
Are Intel integrated graphics supported?
Intel integrated graphics are not supported for PartialCAD. PartialCAD has stricter GPU demands than DentalCAD.
Is a laptop powerful enough for exocad? If so, what minimum/recommended specs should it have?
Yes, if it meets the same specs as a desktop. Minimum (any exocad product): Quad‑core 2.8 GHz CPU, 8 GB RAM, dedicated GPU with ≥ 4 GB VRAM, and 1080p display at 100% DPI. Cost effective :Intel i5‑10400/AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB RAM, and RTX 2060 / RX 5600 XT. Heavy, multiple software simultaneously :Core i9‑14900K / Ryzen 9 9950X, 32 GB RAM, RTX 4080/5070 or RX 7700 XT/7900 XT, WQHD–UHD display.
