Overview
The integration with the DS Core Cloud Platform allows labs to receive cases from Dentsply Sirona and other scanners, directly into DentalDB. Streamlined data flow from DS Core to exocad, simplifying how labs receive and process scan data, including prep margins.
What is DS Core?
DS Core is a cloud-based platform by Dentsply Sirona designed to centrally manage intraoral scans (e.g., from the Primescan), 3D imaging (CBCT), and other patient digital data. It connects dentists, dental labs, and patients in a secure, location-independent way.
Once the integration is properly set up, you can receive cases from DS Core directly into your DentalDB case list. DentalDB will automatically notify you of new cases received, and you can directly start working on the case.
Setup
Opening DentalDB you will be prompted to Set up the DS Core – exocad Connector.
Choose one of the following options:
If you choose ‘’’Connect to DS Core as a lab’’’ log in into DS core or create an account.
Otherwise, click I do not have a "DS Core account yet" to get more information or "Not now" to skip and continue.
When you are successfully connected to DS Core, the DS Core Connector tray icon appears in the system tray with the green status indicator:

Via a click on the DS Core connector tray icon, you can:
- See the list of the recent orders
- Open orders on DS Core
In the menu of the DS Core Connector you can:
- [A] Check the version of the DS Core connector
- [B] Check the DS account email address that you are logged in or log out of DS Core
- [C] Select if the DS Core Connector should automatically retry to download cases when the download fails
DS Core import configuration
In exocad DentalDB, click [1] and Settings [2]. Select on the side menu ‘’’Import Configuration [3] and scroll down to the DS Core import configuration.
Unfold the Import from DS Core mode [4] and choose one option.
Use the Review DS Core material mapping and abutment options to Review the material mapping.
Orders and mapping
When the DS Core connector is set up, incoming orders will be downloaded to your DentalDB application. You will get notifications for new downloaded orders
If the first order of a new client is downloaded, you must edit/complete the client data
If a material was selected that cannot be mapped automatically in DentalDB, you get a notification and can select the material that should be used if this material is selected.
Order Cancelled by Doctor
If an order has already been downloaded by the client, you will receive a notification about the order.
The cancellation information will be shown in the status of your project in DentalDB
Getting help and support
DS Core: Import failed
- Sometimes, even though the case downloads successfully, it may fail to import automatically (meaning something went wrong). In this situation, instead of the usual purple notification, you will see a red one.
- If DS Core is running but you don’t see the icon, expand the hidden tray icons by clicking the chevron [1]. Then click the icon [2] to view the error. Click [3] to open the options [4], and select one of the available options to resolve the conflict indicated in the notification.
When there is an issue with the connection to DS Core the DS Core Connector tray icon is marked with a red status icon.
