Matching the scan abutments

Legacy software documentationThis page documents an old version of the exocad software. See documentation for the latest version

Choose Type of implant

To choose the type of implant, expand the combo box [1] and select an implant from the CAD library. The implant diameter [2] is then chosen, this ensures the correct fit of the titanium interface or base.

The Info button [3] gives information about the chosen implant library.

The lock button [4] is used for anti-rotational units mainly used for single abutments. If no lock is chosen, there is a round shape(rotational), which is used for bridges, so there is no rotational security necessary.

Detect implant position

Look at the red point [5] on the scan abutment in the wizard window. Click at the same position on the scan data and after that „Best fit matching“ [7] to orient the scan abutment correctly. To fit other implant positions click „Next“ or proceed to the next wizard step.
If scan data is not optimal and artifacts are in the lower part of the scan abutments(ie. if the adjacent teeth are to close to the scan abutments), it may help to cut away the lower part of the geometry from the scan abutment for matching by increasing the slider [6]. This way may help improve results.

TipWe can measure accuracy by clicking „Best fit matching“ and pressing the <CTRL> Key – if you see a lot of blue color it's good.
